Dear ,

We hope your school year is off to a wonderful start! As September winds down, here are some tips, reminders, and encouragement to help your child thrive this year.

Build a Strong Homework Routine

One of the most powerful predictors of academic success is a consistent homework and study routine. Here are a few practical strategies:

  • Pick a regular time each day for schoolwork. Many families find that right after a snack in the afternoon works best, while others prefer evenings after activities wind down.

  • Create a dedicated study space that’s quiet and distraction-free. Even a small table or corner can be transformed into a “study zone.” Keep supplies handy so there’s no excuse to wander off looking for materials.

  • Break tasks into smaller chunks. If your child has 45 minutes of work, set a timer for 15-20 minute focus blocks with a short break in between. This keeps energy and focus high.

  • Make “study time” a habit — even on days with no assignments, encourage reading, reviewing notes, or practicing skills. This prevents the “out of sight, out of mind” problem.

Consistency turns homework from a daily battle into a predictable routine that builds focus, confidence, and independence!

Don’t Wait to Start Tutoring Support!

The beginning of the school year is the best time to set students up for success. Tutoring early in the year:

  • Keeps kids ahead of the curve — new material gets reinforced before it becomes confusing.
  • Develops strong study habits from day one — instead of trying to “fix” poor habits later.
  • Boosts confidence early — helping students approach tests, projects, and class participation with less stress.
  • Builds trust and consistency with the tutor — making tutoring sessions something your child looks forward to rather than a “last resort.”

Research consistently shows that proactive support is more effective than waiting until grades fall. It’s far easier (and less stressful for your child) to maintain solid footing than to play catch-up later in the semester.

If you’d like to add extra sessions or revisit your child’s tutoring plan, let us know. We’re happy to help adjust so your student starts strong and stays strong.

Starting the Year Strong!

We’re seeing so much energy and effort from students already this month — it’s inspiring! September is the perfect time to lay a strong foundation for the rest of the year. Here’s how you can help your child start strong:

  • Set 1–2 specific goals for the semester. Examples: “Raise my math grade to a B+” or “Read one new book each month.”
  • Talk about what success looks like. Every child is different — for some, it’s grades, for others it’s confidence or organization.
  • Celebrate small wins. Did they complete all their homework this week? Did they participate in class? Recognize progress early and often.

Remember: if you’d like help with goal-setting, a tutor can be an excellent partner in this process. Tutors don’t just teach — they also help students set realistic goals, monitor progress over time, and adjust strategies when needed. That extra layer of accountability can make all the difference.

By building strong habits and goals now, your child can walk into the rest of the year with confidence and momentum.
